Nature inspired pottery by ceramic designer Linda Johnson

the little flower lady
Little Flower Designs is an independent ceramic studio run by designer & maker Linda Johnson. Linda uniquely blends simple forms with bold surface design to create her handmade dinnerware and home accessories. Linda has a strong commitment to the integrity of her handmade wares. She believes that handmade items tread lighter on the environment and when made with great care, can provide the user a lifetime of satisfaction and joy.

Linda holds a BFA in sculpture from Tyler School of Art and a Certificate in Interior Design from Philadelphia University. In addition, Linda has taken numerous ceramic courses at various colleges and art centers in the Philadelphia area. Linda's love for clay runs deep, and while working a day job, she spent her free time in the studio honing her skills. In 2006 Linda made the jump from part time potter to being a full time professional ceramic designer and maker. Linda's wares have been featured in numerous publications and blogs, most notably, Daily Candy, Design Sponge, VenusZine, Lucky, Philadelphia Home, New York Times, Chicago Tribune and on the TV show "That's Clever". Professionally, Linda has worked as a photographer, interior designer, curator and a corporate jane of all trades (aka facilities manager/on staff interior designer.) Linda now works out of her Abington, Pennsylvania studio where she spends her days designing, making pots, tending to business and throwing the ball for her beagle Marley.

the wares
All pieces are hand formed from a creamy white stoneware, using both wheel thrown and handbuilding methods. Once leather hard, Linda carves and etches her unique designs into each individual piece. The colored glazes are applied using brushwork and slip trailing techniques then coated with Linda's durable clear overcoat glaze. All wares go through 2 kiln firings before they are ready for their new homes. All wares are microwave, dishwasher and food safe.

the name
The name Little Flower Designs comes from the little flower that is stamped on each individual piece.
